About Us
Scott Angelius
Like Butta...
Scott began dancing in 1998 in a cramped rockabilly club without AC and a poorly taught lesson he could barely see - and it was awesome. Ever since then he has dedicated copious amounts of time to studying Swing, Lindy Hop, and dance and movement in general.
He contributes to the dance community in Austin and throughout the U.S. primarily by teaching, mentoring, and directing various events. In particular, Scott teaches weekly classes, after-school programs, and workshops through The Lindy Project, a dance company he created with Laura Glaess and Mike Roberts. He also runs Lone Star Championships with Tena Morales and Don West - an awesome annual party/competition weekend with social competitions: J&Js and strictlys.
He has taken many workshops, classes, and private lessons from some of the best swing dancers in the world, and he has been most influenced by Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jensen, Skye Humphries, Julee Mertz, Peter Strom, Mario Robau, Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollmann.
As a competitor, Scott has danced at many Lindy and WCS events throughout the country and won numerous J&Js, Strictlys, and Routine divisions. He most recently won the Slow Division Strictly at Lindy on the Rocks with Laura Glaess. He also won the Invitational Jack & Jill at Lindy on the Rocks in 2006 and is a two-time winner of the Rising Star Classic division at Americas' Classic with two different partners.
